Welcome to Mutually Mums
A little bit about me...
My name is Nicola. I am a single mum of two boys age 7 and 9. I am also mum to an angel baby named Jacob who passed away in 2013. This profound loss devastated me, ended my relationship with my children's father and alienated me from my friends and family. For a long time, I was a shell of my former self and survived only because I had children who needed me. In 2016, I finally sought help and started to rebuild my life again. The support networks that were available impacted my life so much, and the desire to help other parents grew so strong that in 2018, I applied for university to study counselling. I became determined that no other mother would have to suffer in the way that I have suffered.

I am deeply passionate about supporting women through the loss of their baby and beyond. I believe that every woman has the right to grieve for their baby and for their voices to be heard. Whether you have suffered a miscarriage, abortion, termination for medical reasons or a stillbirth, your baby was real, your feelings are valid and you are not alone.

What is pluralistic counselling?

We are all individuals who respond in different ways. This means that one counselling style does not suit all, and a range of methods and techniques need to be called on to give you the greatest chance of success. Pluralistic counselling is a collaborative approach which allows the counsellor and client to work together to decide on the best approach to therapy. A pluralistic counsellor is trained in different modalities of counselling, which can be used to give you the best experience and therefore increase the likeliness that your therapy will be helpful and beneficial.
